What is 6D Microblading?

In short, 6D microblading is a semi-permanent procedure for eyebrow, that uses a specialized, handheld tool to create the appearance of hairstrokes on the brow line. These hairstrokes imitate real eyebrow hairs, creating the appearance of thicker, fuller brows.

How Does it Work?

Microblading is the process of making lots of tiny, superficial cuts in the brow line, which are then filled in with pigments to create darker, fuller brows.

A very natural effect is achieved by using several shades of pigments implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin by using a hand held tool with ultra fine needles, grouped together to form a blade. This creates unbelievable hair like strokes which resemble real hair to form perfect brows.

The effect is strikingly similar to the hair of natural eyebrows.

Microblading is used to reshape the brow. It can fill in thinning arches, or create the perfect tapering effect. Thanks to a specially designed hand tool, microblading can create hair-thin cuts that closely mimic the shape of real eyebrows. The added control offered by the instrument means a more refined, natural looking brow. With 6D microblading, the results are nearly indistinguishable from real eyebrows.

Who decides on eyebrow shape and colour?

Eyebrow shape, colour and intensity are selected according to the facial features and preferences of the customer.

Does it Hurt?

Before microblading begins, your brows are treated with a numbing ointment to reduce any discomfort. The level of pain is similar to eyebrow threading. Overall, microblading is no worse than regular waxing or plucking.

How Long Does it Take?

The procedure usually takes between 1½ to 2 hours. This is because there are several stages involved in microblading. The desired shape, arch, and thickness of the brows have to first be outlined and drawn in before the actual microblading can begin. This is to ensure that things look exactly the way you want them to. It’s a delicate process that requires precision and attention to detail.

How Long Does it Last?

Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime.

Results typically lasts for up to 12-18 months. Skin type and skincare routine will affect colour retention. Because it is semi-permanent, the pigment will eventually fade.

You should consider going in for a touch-up after 12 months.

That is still more than 365 days where you won’t have to touch a brow pencil or brush.

Am I a good candidate for 6D Microblading?

6D Microblading is for those who want to redefine their eyebrows. 6D microblading is most suitable for customers that want a very natural looking result. 6D microblading is great for anyone suffering from hair loss conditions as well as lack of definition or shape, thin brows, scars of gap in brows. It may also be used to restore eyebrow shape where no or very little natural eyebrow is left. Whether you have naturally thin brows, or your brow-ends are fading with age, microblading has the ability to add volume and color to your eyebrows. Microblading can also reshape your brows, adding more angle to your arch or more detail to your ends.

If you have any of the following, Microblading will most likely not be the solution for you:

Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Allergies to topical anesthetics
Severe Acne
Keloid scarring
Facial psoriasis or eczema

Pre-Procedure Information

To ensure the best results, please follow these instructions prior to treatment

The eyebrow area needs to be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated prior to treatment.

Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:

Discontinue vitamin A/retinol products one month prior to the procedure
Do not have Botox three weeks prior
Do not have any type of facial/peel two weeks prior
Do not wax or tint your eyebrows one week prior
Do not work out the day of the procedure
In order to avoid excess bleeding and poor colour deposit:
- Do not consume coffee or energy drinks five hours before your procedure
- Do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours before your treatment
- Avoid anything that is likely to thin the blood for 24 hours prior, this includes
  - Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Panado, Fish Oil and Vitamin E

You may want to wash your hair prior to the appointment, so you can avoid water around your brow area the evening of the treatment.

6D Microblading Process

Your therapist will apply a numbing cream which will take 15-20 minutes.
While numbing is taking place your desired brow look will be discussed and pigment will be chosen.
The measuring process will then start.
Your therapist will do their best to create as much symmetry as possible.
Once you are satisfied with the drawn shape, pigment will be gently etches into the skin.
A touch up appointment in 1 to 2 months will most likely be necessary to correct any irregularities in the microblade hair strokes and colour tones.

What to Expect after the Procedure

Day 1: I LOVE MY NEWS BROWS! Your brows are fresh, perfect and brand new. What's not to love?

Day 2-4: "These are way too dark and thick." Your brows will actually get darker over this period of time, but don't freak out! They will lighten again.

Day 5-7: During these days your brows may be flaking and scabbing off. Make sure to NOT pick or remove the scabs or you may inadvertently remove some of your pigment!

Day 8-10: "My brows have completely fallen off!!" Your brows will appear like they are completely gone during this time, but don't worry - they will still be there! And this is also why it's important to have your touch up.

Days 11-28: "My brows are coming back but they are patchy!" Your brows will appear to be patch and incomplete during this part of the healing process. Most of these patches will fill in overtime but if for some reason some area doesn't take the touch up will help fill the gap so to speak.

Day 29-56 (after touch up): "These are better than I could have ever imagined!!!" And now you are back to the way you felt after the first day. Trust me when I say that this is a real cycle.

Post Treatment Instructions

Please follow these instructions for 10-14 days after the procedure to improve and prolong the results of brows. If you don’t follow these instructions, it can greatly affect your microblading results.

I have applied a fixing agent that will stay on and protect your brows. Avoid getting anything on the brows, including water, except for cleansing as directed.

2-3 hours after treatment, gently clean the area with a very small amount of sterile water on a cotton pad, just barely damp, not wet.
Do this 2 to 4 times today to avoid build-up of blood/lymph on the area.
Do not use aggressive movement/manipulation of the skin- be gentle. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your brows.
Do not soak the treated area in the bath, pool or hot tub.
For 30 days, refrain from swimming, saunas, yoga, steam rooms or sun beds.
No exercise for min 4 days. After 4 days – when exercising, wear a sweatband to avoid sweat on brow area.
Do not expose treated area to direct sunlight. After healed (30 days), use a sunscreen to avoid fading from the sun.
No makeup should be applied directly on the brows during the healing process.
Do not touch, rub, pick or scratch your brows following treatment or during healing process.
You may find that your eyebrows will scab or become slightly dry following the treatment. If they itch, DO NO SCRATCH them. You may tap them to alleviate the itch.
If your eyebrows get wet during the healing process, pat them dry with a towel, DO NOT RUB.
Avoid using daily skincare products directly on the eyebrows.
If you are planning a chemical peel, or any other medical procedure, please inform therapist of the procedure you have had. Procedure should only be done once the healing process is complete.
