When will I start to see results after the treatment?
The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after 12 weeks. For some clients, an additional treatment may be required after 12 weeks for maximum results.
Recovery time?
One of the major advantages of plasma pen therapy is that it offers a much less invasive/expensive alternative to surgery as well as the time it takes to carry out. This does not mean there is no downtime, but by comparison it is minimal. You can experience significant swelling in the area treated, particularly in the eye area this diminishes over a 2-5 day period. The tiny plasma flash causes ‘crusts’ to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect. These on average are gone between 5-10 days. These are cosmetic issues only, technically there is no real downtime if these visual effects are of no concern to you.
How long do these results last?
As Plasma Skin Tightening is more than a simple tightening treatment, skin is actually removed, so the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of plasma treatment are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further ageing. But, the positive results should last for years depending on the area treated.
How many treatments are required?
This is typically a single treatment. However the number of treatments required may vary according to the condition being treated, skin's laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment.
Does it hurt?
The treatment can be uncomfortable, and really depends on your pain threshold. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to reduce discomfort.
What to expect; side effects and risks?
Plasma Skin Tightening has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature. Still clients are likely to experience some minor side effects following treatment. Tenderness, redness and swelling are common side effects and are to be expected following the treatment.
Immediately following any plasma treatment, most people experience a mild burning sensation similar to sunburn.
There will be some tiny brown marks that have the appearance of minor scabbing, which are carbon crusts, but in 5-10 days these will flake away, revealing new pink skin beneath. It is vital to allow those small scabs to come off without picking. As the skin starts to heal, itching may occur. Makeup or other cosmetic products other than the healing gel provided should not be applied over the area until the scabs have dislodged.
As a natural healing response, it is usual for the treated area to become very swollen, especially around the more delicate areas such as the eyes. This can last from 3 to 8 days in most cases.
