Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or electromyostimulation, is the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses. Electricity is used to activate muscle groups externally through the skin .
EMS electrodes are applied directly to the skin above the target muscle, electrical impulses through discs stimulate muscle contraction and relaxation at a comfortable rate
Different programs can be used to achieve different results such as slimming, increase in muscle tone on workout.
During EMS training, up to 90% of muscles can be activated simultaneously. Compared to conventional exercise and weight training, deeper muscle groups are activated which leads to better intra and inter muscular coordination. EMS can be used to supplement regular training or on its own.
Benefits of EMS:
- EMS provide great results for firming & toning of flabby muscles.
- EMS treatments are an optimal solution for lasting weight-loss and fat removal.
- EMS allow you to focus on specific areas such as your stomach, waist, hips and thighs etc.
- EMS increases metabolism and improves circulation through connective tissue which helps improve skin tone; the removal of metabolic by-products and toxins in the lymph glands. It also helps stimulate internal organs and peristalsis.
- Strengthening of core abdominal muscles.
- Correction of muscular imbalances (Exercises antagonistic muscle group and the core muscles simultaneously)
- Every major muscle group gets activated simultaneously , strengthening the body as a whole.
- May assist in relieving lower back pain.
- Due to every major muscle group being activated at the same time every 5 seconds, you get a lot more contractions and muscle trained than conventional training.
- Increase lymphatic flow.
